ALLY McCOIST was branded “a salty man” and called out by one of his radio colleagues live on air this morning.
The Rangers legend was not interested in entertaining any chat about Celtic‘s big European clash against Young Boys and was ridiculed by his talkSPORT pals for his comments.
McCoist, 62, was surrounded by two Celtic-daft co-hosts on his regular breakfast slot – Alan Brazil and Shebahn Aherne.
The pair were understandably excited for tonight’s huge showdown at Parkhead which could see Celtic book their place in the Champions League play-off.
Should Brendan Rodgers‘ men see off the Swiss side then their place in the next round will be all-but sealed.
But McCoist was having none of it and tried to shut down their enthusiasm – by comparing them to England fans.

When the show initially moved on the topic of Celtic‘s big Euro tie, McCoist said: “I have no interest in this section whatsoever. None.
“I’m having a croissant now, I’ll see you in ten minutes.”
His silence didn’t last long though as he interjected just moments later when his colleagues were discussing their side’s chances.
He couldn’t resist aiming a cheeky pop at their expense – stating Celtic won’t go any further than the next round.
The Gers icon said: “You’ve got to beat them Siobhan, c’mon. To be fair to the two of you, you’ve had a great draw, it’s an absolute dream draw for Celtic and you’ve handed it fairly well.
“I’m looking at that team (Young Boys) – they’ve not got a point and have a minus 19 goal difference.
“You’ve got to be taking three or four off them.
“Then you’ll qualify for you’re next/last stage of the competition! Well done.”
He ruffled some feathers with that remark as Aherne hit back: “Come back and talk to us when you’re in the Champions League, Ally.”
Brazil chimed in: “Have you ever seen that big cup in our trophy room at Parkhead? You know, that big one?”
That’s when Aherne laughed: “You’re such a salty man, Ally!”
Aherne went on to suggest that avoiding the play-offs altogether and taking one of the top eight spots isn’t out of the realms of possibilities for the Hoops – if they beat Young Boys AND Aston Villa.
McCoist then asked: “Just to clarify, are you still thinking of getting into the top eight?
“I think you should win tonight and then IF you beat Villa then you COULD be top eight.”
Aherne responded: : “Considering Villa lost to Monaco, it just keeps things really interesting. I’m not thinking about next week either – a big three points and no room for complacency.
“You’re right, the draw has been okay.
“If we win tonight and then if we beat Villa then we (could) be through the top eight, but we’re not thinking about that yet. One step at a time.”
Stunned McCoist then couldn’t help himself again as he jumped in:
“You’ll get Liverpool in the quarter-final and who have you got in the semi-final?!”
That led to Brazil firing one back at his pal with a dig at Rangers.
He asked: “Are you still in the Glasgow Cup?”
McCoist laughed: “That’s not bad from you big fella!”
He then continued by comparing the Celtic pair to a section of England fans before major tournaments and branded them “embarrassing“.

He said: “The two of you are unbelievable. Do you know who you both sound like? You sound like England fans before the World Cup! Planning your route to the final.
“It’s embarrassing.”
