Yahya Salih announced in a statement that Yemeni forces successfully shot down an American MQ9 drone over Yemeni territorial waters in the Marib region.
The drone was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile manufactured in Yemen.
A Yemeni military statement highlighted that this was the second American drone destroyed in the past 72 hours and the 14th since the start of the Gaza support operation.
“We emphasize that we will continue to counter any enemy attempts to attack our sovereignty. We will continue operations in support of Gaza until the incursions into Gaza cease and the blockade is lifted.” concluded.
Since the Gaza regime launched a devastating war after the Palestinian resistance movement in the Gaza Strip launched a surprise retaliatory attack on the occupying entity on October 7, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, Yemenis have has expressed public support for the Palestinian struggle against Israeli occupation.
Yemen’s military says it will not stop its attacks until Israel’s relentless ground and air offensive in the Gaza Strip, which has killed at least 27,948 people and wounded another 67,459, ends.
In December, the United States and Britain announced a military coalition to support Israel and target Yemen.
