The WSL’s return weekend concludes with a heavyweight clash between Manchester City and Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday (18:45 CET).
City won twice against Mark Skinner’s side in 2023-24, beating the Reds 3-1 in both league matches.
United have never beaten Manchester City in the WSL, with their only win against the Citizens coming in May 2023, when they won 2-1.
However, going into the latest derby, the Reds have the upper hand having won all three games in December.
United have only lost once in the league so far this season, while City, who sit second in the WSL, have lost twice.
They suffered back-to-back defeats to Everton and Barcelona in the Champions League before the winter break, but manager Gareth Taylor supported his players to bounce back.
“We were frustrated with the blip against Everton, but that can happen,” he said.
“This group of players tends to do well in the second half of the season. We know we can do it and we have to do it. There’s definitely work to do. The margins are really big.”It’s tough. “
