According to Bloomberg, anonymous sources claim that the Chinese government is considering the possibility of addressing the situation if legal challenges fail to block the ban.
However, a TikTok representative dismissed this as “pure fiction” in a comment to Variety. They said they “cannot be expected to comment on pure fiction.”

Meanwhile, Musk, who had previously spoken out against the ban on TikTok in the US, said of X:
In my opinion, TikTok should not be banned in the US, even though such a ban could benefit X Platform.
He stressed that banning TikTok violates the principles of freedom of speech and expression.
TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, has been fighting to overturn a law that would require it to sell its U.S. operations or shut them down completely.
The law, scheduled to take effect on January 19, was passed amid concerns about the ability of apps to collect user data and concerns that the Chinese government could use this information for surveillance.
ByteDance claims these actions violate the First Amendment rights of TikTok’s 170 million U.S. users.
President-elect Donald Trump sought to delay the law’s implementation to allow for further negotiations. If the law is upheld, ByteDance would have to sell TikTok’s U.S. operations, which analysts estimate could be worth between $40 billion and $50 billion.
