Title: Next generation pipeline research and development method

Highlights:

The Department of Energy (DOE) establishes a five-year initiative in which DOE will provide funding to conduct demonstration projects on low-to-moderate technology readiness challenges to achieve the adoption of technologies such as: (Section 2).
Applicable to pipelines and related infrastructure. and
Involved in the development of next-generation pipeline systems, components, and related technologies.
Requires DOE to select projects that: (Section 2):
Specifies that DOE, in consultation with DOT and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), will establish a joint research and development program on advanced and innovative materials and technologies for pipeline transportation systems.
DOE will be required to enter into or update existing memoranda of understanding with DOT and NIST to manage joint programs (Section 2).
DOE should also establish a National Pipeline Modernization Center. The center will collaborate with industry and stakeholders to coordinate and execute research, development and demonstration projects related to the commercialization of cost-effective products and procedures in line with set goals and priorities. We need to focus on that. Article 2 (Sec. 2) by DOE.
Additionally, it specifies that NIST must conduct a program of measurement research, development, validation, and standardization to: (Section 2);
Ensure the integrity of pipeline facilities. and
Supporting pipeline safety, security, efficiency, sustainability, and resiliency.
