The Cookie Race is more than just a race – it is an Alberta tradition! As the second oldest Nordic event (after the Lake Louise Loppet) and the second largest loppet (after the Canadian Birkebeiner) in Alberta, the Cookie Race has grown into an exciting day that brings together the Nordic community for some healthy competition, community spirit and of course cookies! Each year, we welcome over 500 skiers, the maximum number of racers allowed by Alberta Parks, who come to compete in distances that challenge all skill levels:
- 42 km, 24km and 15 km classic races
- Jackrabbit Youth Races from 0.5 to 5 km
1. Cookie Race Assistant Chief of Competition: All good things must come to an end, and Tom Lambert is hanging up his Cookie Monster role after the 2025 race. We will miss this big cookie. For a smooth transition for 2026, we are looking for an Assistant Chief of Competition for the 2025 race. In this role, you will shadow Tom and learn the recipe for running the great Cookie Race with the expectation of leading the race in 2026.
