It has been a strange winter season, from going to -30℃ to +7℃ in a matter of days, honestly I could not keep up. I’ve had several winter jacket options ready to go, but the one jacket I almost always reached for was the Venustas Heated Jacket. I’ve always been heated jacket curious, and I was all too happy to put this Venustas jacket to the test.
Venustas Heated Jacket Review After Use
So what’s a heated jacket about anyways? A heated jacket refers to a jacket that has a battery pack (removable) that is mainly designed for cold weather sports and activities. They allow you to enjoy the outdoors much longer with a lot less bulk. The heat is never overwhelming it feels more like those hand warmers or a medium setting on a heated blanket. It’s toasty, but not burn your skin hot.
Venustas has a variety of heated wear, but today i’ll be focusing on the Unisex Heated Jacket 7.4V for Unisex.
Receiving the Jacket: Upon receiving my Venustas heated jacket, I was immediately impressed by the sleek packaging and attention to detail. Inside the box, along with the jacket itself, was a rechargeable battery pack, charging cable, and clear instructions on how to use the heating features effectively. The removable batter pack slips into the inside pocket where a sleek cord allows connects right to the battery pack. (Pro tip: charge the battery before use)
The the jacket felt lightweight and wasn’t bulky at all. The design was very casual, and for a unisex jacket, the fit was great. I’m between usually a women’s L in jackets – but keep in mind I’m tall at 5’10”. The unisex M was perfect.
Heating Technology: Now, onto the most crucial aspect of the Venustas heated jacket – its heating technology. The jacket features premium carbon fiber heating elements strategically placed in the chest and back areas, providing consistent warmth without creating hotspots. The three heating levels (low, medium, high) can be easily adjusted with the press of a button, allowing you to tailor the heat output to your preference. Here is a break down of the colours and heating ranges.
Pre-heat: Red
High: Red 131℉/55℃
Medium: White 113℉/45℃
Low: Blue 100℉/37℃
Battery Life: One concern many people have with heated jackets is battery life. Fortunately, the Venustas held on strong. With a fully charged battery, I had several hours of warmth on the highest heat setting. That said, don’t forget to charge your battery after long use!
Where I Wore The Venustas Heated Jacket
The Desert: The first time I really had a chance to wear the Venustas jacket was in the desert in January. I wore the jacket all week long in some of the harshest, windiest and driest conditions. During the day it would be around 10℃/50℉ and 2℃/35℉ at night. The jacket not only held up and kept me warm, but it still looked brand new by the end of the week. My favourite part about the jacket was how as soon as the soon set and it got cooler, I would quickly turn on the heater and I was toasty as could be.
Early Mornings: Now this isn’t everyone, but most day so the week I roll out of bed at 5:15am to get to the gym by around 6AM. This jacket is THE BEST for this time of day the past March. It’s been cool, but not freezing. At this time of the day I would very much like to still be in my bed sleeping, so the warmth of the jacket helps replicate that feeling and I’m very toasty all morning long.
Everyday Wear: This seems obvious, but any time I’m running out the door and it’s not -20℃/-4℉, I wear the Venustas jacket. Honestly, it’s such a stylish jacket that comfortable and a good down thin puffy jacket, but if I feel that it’s a little cooler than expected, I just turn on the heater and I’m golden. It really has been my go to jacket.
When I Didn’t Wear It: If it was really cold, like -10℃/14℉ or colder, the Venustas jacket wasn’t the one I would reach for. I would tend to go for my much larger parka. The jackets keeps you warm, but when you hit the sub zero temperatures, a much thicker bigger and longer parka would be my first pick.
