Two people have been injured after a knife-wielding maniac went on a stabbing rampage in New York City‘s Grand Central Station on Christmas Eve.
Sources told DailyMail.com a 28-year-old man slashed two strangers with a knife in the seemingly random attack just after 10pm at the busy tourist hotspot.
He knifed a 48-year-old man in the wrist and a 26-year-old woman in the neck. They were each transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable conditions.
NYPD said officers received a 911 call at 10.15pm and rushed to the scene, where they detained the suspect. He has not yet been named.
No charges have been filed yet against the attacker, who remains in custody. He has three prior arrests for criminal mischief, fare beating and assaulting a police officer, sources told the New York Post.
Dramatic photographs show blood splattered across the ground at the train station on Midtown’s 42nd Street, while police cordons separate the grisly scene from swarms of tourists.
It comes less than a week after Guatemalan migrant Sebastian Zapeta-Calil allegedly burned a stranger to death on board a subway at Stillwell Avenue in Brooklyn’s Coney Island on Sunday morning.
Zapeta-Calil, 33, appeared in court on Tuesday over the gruesome murder which was caught in chilling videos filmed by witnesses.

Meanwhile, on Monday, homeless migrant Juan Jose Valencia allegedly assaulted a rookie female officer in Midtown Manhattan’s Port Authority Bus Terminal.
The 30-year-old Colombia native is accused of attacked the officer while shouting that he hates women who work in law enforcement, according to the Post.
He is accused of mimicking to fire a gun with hand gestures at the entrance to the terminal around 6.45am, law enforcement sources told the Post.
The rookie officer approached Valencia, who allegedly threatened her by saying he had a knife.
He is accused of tripping her when she tried to handcuff him before pouncing on her as she hit the ground and throwing punches.

The officer called for back up. Police arrived and were able to wrestle Valencia off her before cuffing and detaining him. She was left in hospital with multiple injuries.
Valencia has been charged with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. NYPD told DailyMail.com the officer was not one of theirs and likely a transport official.
The alleged attacker has previously been charged with stalking and intimidation, according to the Post.
