The National Will Platform, made up of 308 non-governmental organizations (NGOs), will come together to stop Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to walk from mosques on the historic peninsula after early morning prayers and converge on the Galata Bridge over the Golden Horn for a protest, Anadolu Agency reported.
Ibrahim Besinsi, head of the NGO, said Israel’s ongoing offensive in Gaza for 15 months was “annihilating” the people in front of the world.
“Continuing silence in the face of this ruthless oppression is clearly contrary to human dignity. Palestine should be a concern for all humanity, not just one race or religion,” he said.
Since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed more than 45,500 people, most of them women and children.
Most buildings in the enclave have been destroyed and rendered uninhabitable, while Israel has also imposed a stifling blockade, pushing the territory’s 2.3 million people to the brink of starvation.
Last month, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
