HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – It’s the second busiest week of the year for kids. Aside from Christmas, the period leading up to Halloween is the most important of the year for many people. In the year gone by… Cold winds, snowstorms, and freezing rain are dampening the festival’s momentum. Temperatures will be very warm this year, with the possibility of record-breaking temperatures, along with an invasion of ghouls and goblins. At this time, high temperatures are expected to be above 80 degrees Tuesday through Thursday. It would take until the mid-80s to keep a record. Our forecast is currently below that number.
Now, the next dilemma is whether or not it will rain for the children on patrol. The trend looked a little unfavorable as data brought early arrival of rain this weekend. Here on Monday, that trend slowed down significantly again. So we have put up first alert banners to show our high level of concern for Thursday night’s weather. Good luck and don’t let it rain until the witching hour or later.
High school football is played Friday afternoon and into the evening, and by the weekend, the days are cool and the nights are crisp with sunshine, when hard games are played on Joan and Civil War Day in Guyandot. I’m going back to the climate.
