Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross earned their third Golden Globe gold medal with the 2025 Best Original Score award for their work on Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers.
Nine Inch Nails members previously won Golden Globe Awards for Best Original Song in 2010 for “The Social Network” and 2020 for “Soul.” The duo was also nominated for Best Original Song at this year’s Golden Globe Awards for their Challengers song “Compress/Repress,” but lost to Emilia Perez’s “El Mal.”
Reznor and Ross, named Consequence Magazine’s 2024 Composer of the Year, will be looking to add more to their trophy case at the 2025 Academy Awards, as they are finalists for both Best Original Song and Best Original Song. I’ll be aiming for it.
Looking ahead, Reznor and Ross are writing the upcoming Tron: Ares as Nine Inch Nails, marking the band’s first new music since 2020. When asked by Consequence if there was any possibility of any new Nine Inch Nails music being produced in addition to Tron: Ares, Reznor said, “Anything is possible at this point.” Check out Reznor and Ross’ interview here or listen to the entire conversation on a recent episode of Consequence UNCUT.
