Since the last ranking of 2025 college draft prospects was released in July, there has been little change at the top. The top three remain unchanged with Jace Laviolette (Texas A&M), Tyler Bremner (University of California, Santa Barbara), and Jamie Arnold (Florida State) with 1 win, 2 losses, and 3 draws.
Immediately behind this trio is the dynamic Cam Canarella (Clemson) at No. 4, the soft-qualified Luke Stephenson (North Carolina) at No. 5, and the mega-riser Iva Arquette (Oregon State) at No. 4. There are several hitters lined up. No. 6, Tennessee’s Dean Curley No. 7 and Auburn slugger Ike Irish No. 8.

The summer-to-fall transfer is Oklahoma’s Kyson Witherspoon, who sits at No. 9. The power right-hander started the summer in impressive fashion at the U.S. CNT Trials and continued his rise with a great fall season. His fastball was consistently marked up to 98, and he also showed a plus slider. He also found the zone numerous times with a changeup that was above major league average quality.
Rounding out the top 10 is Ethan Petry, who destroyed the Cape Cod League this summer by hitting .360/.480/.760 with 11 home runs in 100 at-bats. He also has 44 home runs in his two-year Shamcock career thus far.
Laviolette, Cannarella and Petry lead an elite outfield that is the top talent in the 2025 college draft class. Outfielders occupy No. 10 to No. 13 in the prospect rankings and 10 of the top 20. Petry is No. 10, but that doesn’t come after lengthy discussions and comparisons with Indiana’s Devin Taylor (No. 11), Georgia’s Tre Phelps (No. 12) and Arizona’s Brendan Summerhill (No. 13). No. 15 Max Bellew (Texas), No. 17 Henry Ford (Virginia), No. 19 Nick Dumenil (Cal Baptist) and No. 20 Nolan Schubert (Oklahoma State) complete the list of top 20 outfielders. .
Compared to the 2024 college draft class, the 2025 class is significantly lacking in two-way talent. There aren’t any prospects that can match Jack Carianone or Carson Benge, but the best one right now is former Gator Chris Arroyo (Virginia), who, like the Cags, is a left-handed pitcher and hard-hitting first baseman. .
As for Florida and Virginia, both states have six prospects in the top 150, followed by LSU (nine), Tennessee and Arkansas (eight each), Oklahoma State and Wake Forest. It ranks sixth behind the states (seven each).
