WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – Yesterday finally set some new all-time highs. Outside of Wausau, most communities in north-central Wisconsin ended up hitting record highs. Wednesday morning will also be very warm.
The best chance of precipitation, whether rain or snow, will be Wednesday afternoon through Thursday evening.
We’ll be leaving early today in the mid 60’s. If this warmth holds by the end of Wednesday, we could break records. But that’s not the case.

More rain is expected Thursday morning. This second round will bring rain to most of central Wisconsin, with rain and snow to the North Woods. Possible 1 to 3 inches of rain will fall before the rain leaves the area. Most of us won’t see any measurable snow, but some communities in the North Woods could see an inch or two of snow on higher ground. Roads and sidewalks are unlikely to be affected as the warmth from this week continues.
In addition to all the rain expected, most communities in the North Woods region are expected to see the first snow of the new season. (WSAW) Precipitation amounts could reach 1 to 3 inches in north-central Wisconsin. (WSAW) Snowfall amounts are as follows. 1 to 3 inches tall in the remote North Woods. Others will have very little snow. (WSAW)
Trick-or-treating temperatures vary. Some of us will be in our mid to early 40s south of Highway 29. If you’re trick-or-treating in the Northwoods, you’ll probably be in your mid to late 30s.
Temperatures in the North Woods on Halloween are much cooler than those further south. (WSAW) Winds could reach 30 to 40 mph on Halloween with rain and snow. (WSAW) Snow accumulation is expected to be limited to high surfaces. (WSAW)
The rest of this week will feel more like fall. High temperatures will be in the 50s to 55 degrees for most of the weekend and early next week. More rain is expected Sunday into Tuesday. It’s too early to tell how much rain will fall.
