The Traitors stars risk being fined an eye-watering six-figure sum if they dare to flout a BBC rule.
Jaz Singh, otherwise known as Jazatha Christie from season 2, revealed all contestants sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) forbidding them from spilling the show’s secrets before it airs.
The ultimate game of deception – hosted by Claudia Winkleman – is filmed in the Scottish Highlands months before it comes to our screens meaning the players are more than several steps ahead than viewers.
If a faithful or traitor leaks what happens in the show, Jaz said they would be sued for ‘hundreds of thousands of pounds’ as per the show’s NDA.
Jaz told The Sun: ‘You have to get a ton of stuff prepared, how you’re going to deliver this information to various family members to keep this a secret, because you’re under an NDA, and they will sue you for hundreds of thousands of pounds of TV damages if this gets leaked.’
There are plenty of twists and turns the contestants must keep under lock and key – including a huge shake-up to the game not seen before in previous seasons.
At the end of Friday’s episode, a ‘coming soon’ preview clip showed Claudia, 52, explaining a major twist in the show.

She revealed: ‘One of you will win an extraordinary power that could turn the entire game on its head.’
No further explanation was given – but thankfully the internet got hard to work devising theories.
‘Next week on #TheTraitors there is a game-changing twist… and this book made an appearance tonight,’ said superTV247 on X, with an image of a book titled The Seer.
They went on to explain a possible meaning: ‘In the game ‘Werewolf’… “The Seer is arguably the most powerful and important Villager. The Seer targets a player, and the Moderator silently indicates whether that player is a Villager or a Werewolf.
‘The Seer must then find a way to use that knowledge to help the Villagers, without becoming the next target themselves.’
Other viewers also spotted the book in the episode and made the connection to the game The Werewolf.
‘The seer? A little shout out to my Werewolf girlies? #TheTraitors,’ said IvanBrett.
While the traitors and faithfuls could lose an astonishing sum if they break their NDA, if they win the competition they could win tens of thousands of pounds.
On Friday’s episode, the remaining players revealed how they would spend the prize money.
Both Charlotte and Leanne revealed they would use the money towards IVF and both had struggled with pregnancy.
Alexander revealed that he planned to support a charity that helped his parents raise his late younger brother who had special needs and died at age 17.
Metro has contacted the BBC for comment.
The Traitors airs Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
