Aaron Shattock was left in a coma after Sunday’s incident, with the former Brisbane Lions star believed to have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being crushed under an excavator.

A former Brisbane Lions star continued to fight for his life after being crushed by an excavator.
7News reported that the 44-year-old father of three was “driving” the excavator when it overturned and Mr Shattock was pinned under it. Emergency services used hydraulic rescue tools to free Mr Shattock from the rig before he was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
His family broke their silence on the incident and released a statement through the Labrador Football Club on Christmas Day, thanking those who had sent messages of support to the former Brisbane and Port Adelaide player. .
“The Shattock family would like to express our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming support, love and kindness shown to Aaron during this incredibly difficult time,” the family statement read. .
“Your compassion gave him and our entire family the strength and hope to keep fighting.
Aaron Shattock’s family has provided an update on the former Brisbane Lions star’s condition.
Shattock was seriously injured when he was crushed under an excavator while working on his property on Sunday.
“Aaron remains in critical but stable condition and we remain hopeful with each passing day.

Premiership winner Shattock made his Lions debut in 2000.
He also contributed to his team’s victory in the 2002 Grand Final, coming on as a substitute to watch the team defeat Collingwood.
The 6ft 2in midfielder made 57 appearances for Brisbane before joining Port Adelaide in 2005.
He was subsequently deregistered by the club in 2006 and retired from AFL football, joining Labrador in the Queensland Australian Football League.
Mr Shattock and his family have been flooded with messages of support since the incident.

He later joined Port Adelaide and retired from AFL football after being delisted in 2006.
Three-time Premiership winner Michael Boss described the midfielder as a “fantastic good bloke”.
“It’s unbelievable… it’s always bad but just before Christmas it’s even worse,” he told the Brisbane club website.
“Our prayers are with him and his family.”
The Brisbane Lions released a statement on Sunday night announcing that the former footballer had undergone emergency surgery.
