Season 5 of ‘The Boys’ promises to be tough and brutal. Series creator Eric Kripke insists that all bets are off and any character could fully meet their creator. If that doesn’t sound depressing enough, Kripke revealed on Teases the return of Love Sausage (Derek Johns), who has the ability to turn his manhood into killer tentacles.
This episode’s title is taken from “The Boys” #14 by Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and Peter Snejbjak, and it’s pretty much centered around love sausages. The story sees him team up with Wee Huey to fight Russian organized crime, but that proves difficult when Love Sausage’s weapon grows uncomfortably large during a scene at a strip club. His equipped super-masculinity is his greatest weapon, but it’s also his kryptonite.
Love Sausage had a small role in the first four seasons of Kripke’s film adaptation, but could be promoted for season five. The final episode of “The Boys” season 4 ended with the talented supers knocking out Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) with a large squad. He will become even more of a threat in future episodes. Moreover, the character should be given more of a chance to shine, as the TV series “Boys” has only barely scratched the surface of his potential.
Love Sausage should have a bigger role in The Boys

The adaptation of the TV show The Boys has made several changes from the comics, and the Love Sausage character is one of the most notable. In the original story, he is portrayed as a large, hard-drinking communist who is an ally of the titular heroes, but later meets Billy Butcher. Meanwhile, the television series portrays him as a brutal Russian villain who bullies Mother’s Milk. Both characters are interesting, but the comic version has more depth. Still, it’s interesting to reimagine him as a villain, and his unique abilities have created some wild moments on screen.
At the end of The Boys season 4, Homelander (Antony Starr) becomes the de facto President of the United States, and in the fifth movie, the country is ruled by supers with totalitarian tendencies, so the love sausage may serve their corrupt cause. But the show still has time to flip the script and turn him into the hero it originally envisioned.
Regardless of Love Sausage’s plans for The Boys, the title of the Season 5 premiere hints that he will be featured in a meaningful capacity. If so, viewers can expect tentacle-filled havoc from the big, bushy-bearded super.
