BBC viewers have been left feeling emotional after the launch of the last series of the ‘guilty pleasure’ Australian comedy-drama.
The hilariously wholesome show, originally released in 2021, features the story of Oly (Nathalie Morris), an unexpectedly pregnant teen who after the birth of her daughter, Jacinda, navigates life as a young mother with an unconventional family.
The final season is set to pull on heartstrings as Angie (Oly`s mother, played by the talented Claudia Karvan) receives some bad news from her oncologist.
Among Angie`s cancer diagnosis, Jacinda`s father (Santi) continues his mission to get his ‘Toilet Baby’ comic strip published – a story inspired by the events he and Oly faced as teenage parents.
Viewers praised the show for touching on real-life topics that affect so many, with one X follower hailing: ‘Holy moly, those last few episodes tore me apart!! The breast cancer is so close to home’
Critics have stamped the Australian comedy drama’s new series as ‘abundantly gorgeous’ and a ‘touching farewell to the Chalmers-Davis family.’
The long-awaited penultimate series has left a print on hearts not only in the UK but in Australia and the US too due to ‘Bump`s’ international success.
Fans of the comedy were not ready to say goodbye to their favourite Australian family, with one X user saying: ‘Final season done! Congratulations to the show— I laughed, and I got teary. Great way to end the series!! Well done!’
Another fan, @vanscargoshorts, couldn`t hold in their emotions, and wrote: ‘Just finished the final season of BUMP and I’m inconsolable.’
‘I`m so sad this is the last season, what a great show it is,’ Indie added.
Actress and co-creator, Claudia Karvan, has previously made it clear that she caps any piece of television that she works on at three seasons.
Karvan has previously appeared in multiple other Australian TV shows, ‘The Secret Life of Us’, ‘Love My Way’, ‘Doctor, Doctor’; in each of these dramas Claudia left the show after the third season.
However, when it came down to ‘Bump’ she said: ‘Three was my magic number, and then with Bump, I was just like, “I can’t. I’m loving this so much. We’re all loving this so much. There’s so much more we can do together.”‘
