“It has to sink!” Well Go USA has posted a teaser trailer for director Dante Lam’s Chinese action thriller Operation Hadal. This patriotic film is about the Chinese Navy doing everything in its power to protect its offshore platforms at sea. It will initially be released in China this month, followed by a release in the United States at the end of February. The offshore platform “Deep Blue 3” in China’s territorial waters has been occupied by mercenaries. Afterwards, the Chinese Navy sets sail to repel the invaders, and the Jiaolong special forces prepare for fierce battles in the deep sea. So this is primarily a movie about the Chinese Navy being the bad guys and taking out the bad guys (they spent years making this movie; see also: Battle of Changjin Lake). Starring Xuan Huang, Yoshu Yu, Brian Larkin, Luxia Jiang, Callie Wang, Kelvin Taylor, Sean Kohnke, and Corey Beeston. Half of this movie is like an old-school submarine movie, and the other half is like a special operations action movie.
Here’s the official trailer for the US version (+Dante Lam’s Operation Hadar poster, taken directly from YouTube):
