BBC Sport’s live blog wrote: “From his own half!! What an incredible goal!
“It all comes from a Derby throw in and they move the ball up the pitch. Michael Smith passes to Josh Windass, who takes a touch and then smashes it from well inside his own half with Jacob Widell Zetterström well off his line.
“One of the goals of the season. Any season. Wow.”
Sky Sports meanwhile said: “Oh yes – this is INCREDIBLE from Josh Windass!
“The Wednesday forward has just scored from inside his own half!
“Think David Beckham vs Wimbledon in the 90s… but better.
“This is a special, special goal – and his 50th for the club!”
Paul Warne on the Windass goal, per Dom Howson: “I hate losing but I’m not a bad loser. As soon as he hit it, I thought that had a right chance. Credit to him for taking it on. It was an absolute dagger to our hearts. I felt we could have been two goals up at half-time.”
Warne on the result: “I’m disappointed. I thought my lads performed well enough to get a point. We created enough chances to win one or two games. #SWFC scored a screamer. I’m proud of a lot of our play. We created problems from set pieces.”
Derby County defender Craig Forsyth told BBC Radio Derby: “It’s really disappointing coming away from home and losing four goals but losing the goals so early.
“That put us on the backfoot and we had to come out. They were just bad goals really first and foremost.
“It’s something we can’t continue and we’ve got to put a stop to it.”
Danny Röhl on the Windass goal: “It was similar to his goal at Blackburn. It was a key moment in the game. Josh is in outstanding form. He’s fit and can run but I have to manage him to come through the games.”
