Embedding sustainability into Baker Hughes’ culture
Baker Hughes is taking a multi-faceted approach to embedding sustainability across its 58,000 employees, setting emissions reductions as a core performance indicator for all employees.
“All employees receive scope 1 and 2 reductions related to their annual performance,” Allison explains.
The company also has a “Carbon Out” program, an “employee-led, grassroots-based program” that allows employees to propose and implement emissions reduction projects.
For this reason, the company is enabling its employees to become more involved in its sustainability efforts.
Allison also highlighted Baker Hughes’ unique efforts to avoid carbon offsets and virtual power purchase agreements (VPPAs).
Instead, the company focuses on real, measurable emissions reductions.
“We are a zero-offset company,” she explains of Baker Hughes’ rigorous standards for renewable energy sourcing.
Baker Hughes aims to ensure that every reduction contributes directly to our sustainability goals by avoiding offsets and investing in direct emissions reductions.
