Manchester City have expressed “great” confidence in Erling Haaland’s 115 charges after signing a new long-term contract with the club.
This is the view of former Man City financial adviser Stefan Bolson, who told Football Insider exclusively that he appears to believe the Premier League champions will prevail in their legal battle following the Norwegian international’s new contract. .
Man City announced on January 17 that Haaland has signed a new contract with the Etihad until 2034.
The 24-year-old joined Josep Guardiola’s side from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 after his £51m release clause was triggered.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported on January 17 that the release clause in Haaland’s previous contract had been removed after Haaland signed one of the most lucrative sports contracts of all time. All reported deleted.
The forward’s new contract was announced as Man City await the verdict on 115 charges alleging they breached Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules over a nine-year period between 2009 and 2018.

Mr Bolson suggested people could take the club to have a high level of confidence in the outcome of the case.
He told Football Insider: “It is a sign of great confidence that the worst-case scenario of 115 indictments will not occur.
“I think it’s very difficult to formulate a theory about how this suggests any different. I think you’re now interpreting this to mean that the club believes it will prevail in the 115th hearing. Masu.
“I think it’s interesting from a football perspective that they’re obviously putting Haaland at the center of a global project for City as a whole.
“He will have a way out, whether it’s a formal release clause or not. His previous contract had a formal release clause, allowing him to leave for a certain fee.
“If you read David Ornstein’s article, you will see that those clauses have been removed and not directly replaced with similar clauses.
“It’s difficult to know exactly what the contract will be, but you should always assume that the player can break out of the contract if he wishes.

“Under Pep, City have always taken the approach of allowing a player to leave if he or she comes with an offer that we believe is within the player’s value.
“I think this shows a high level of confidence in the 115-charge case and that he’s here for the long term in terms of the overall project.”
