Steamboat Springs, Colo. – Steamboat Mountain School is thrilled to announce an exciting series of merit-based scholarships for the 2025-2026 academic year, designed to celebrate and support exceptional students who excel in academics, athletics, and community engagement. Among these prestigious awards, the Ski and Snowboard Scholar Award stands out as a transformative opportunity for dedicated winter athletes.
This unique scholarship bridges the gap for competitive skiers and snowboarders, covering the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) program fee for student-athletes entering grades 9 or 10. By alleviating the financial burden the award allows young athletes to focus on what matters most: their growth on the slopes and in the classroom.
What sets this scholarship apart is its recognition of student-athletes who embody a commitment to both academic excellence and athletic achievement. With an emphasis on fostering well-rounded individuals, the Ski and Snowboard Scholar Award supports recipients in balancing rigorous academics with the demands of high-level training and competition with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.
Moreover, this scholarship is renewable annually, contingent on continued academic success, offering long-term support and encouragement as students progress through their educational and athletic journeys. Beyond financial assistance, recipients join a community that celebrates their drive, resilience, and ambition, setting the stage for future success both on and off the mountain.
In addition to the Ski and Snowboard Scholar Award, SMS offers two other merit scholarships, the SMS Global Scholar Award and the Founder’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence. These awards range from $10,000-$30,000 and Steamboat Mountain School sees these scholarships as opportunities to make an SMS experience more attainable to families.
“We are thrilled to launch these transformative scholarships, which recognize and support exceptional students in their academic, athletic, and community endeavors,” said Pearson Alspach, Director of Admissions. “These opportunities not only honor students’ achievements but also make an SMS education more accessible, allowing us to welcome a diverse group of talented individuals who will carry forward the school’s mission of fostering global citizens and leaders.”
Applications for these scholarships are now open. Prospective students and families can visit the Steamboat Mountain School website for details on eligibility and application requirements.
