Along the way, “We’re Gonna Be In So Much Trouble” samples everything from “Andor” to “Treasure Island” again for ideas. But one of its best scenes comes right from the Steven Spielberg classic.
Skeleton Crew Episode 7 Channels ET Extraterrestrial

Skeleton Crew creators Robert Watts and Christopher Ford have made no secret of the fact that they were inspired by Steven Spielberg’s work, particularly his directing and producing work in the 1980s. The Goonies are often cited as a source of inspiration, and rightly so. “The Goonies” cemented the “Kids on Bikes” genre in the hearts of children around the world in the ’80s. But of course, there was one other movie that first really started the genre. It’s Spielberg’s 1982 hit, E.T.
Episode 7 of ‘Skeleton Crew’ begins with a scene taken straight out of ‘ET’: The parents of the missing children complain that Attin’s droids and Overseers will do nothing to help find them. Convinced, they created their own communication device made by combining spare parts to send messages across planetary barriers. They gather in the forest to send a message. Unfortunately, Attin’s security droids attack them at night with bright flashlights, chasing them in an attempt to stop their message from getting out.
This scene feels like a direct transmission of two particular iconic moments from “E.T.” The first is an “ET” foot chase previously mentioned on the show, in which the eponymous alien is chased through a forest at night by government agents. Comes with a flashlight. But the other is when the ET builds his own communication device to contact his companions to be picked up and sent home. In one of the film’s most-quoted lines, he tells his friends, “ET, call home.”
Skeleton Crew Episode 7 matches the shots and atmosphere of Spielberg’s classic with its own nighttime forest sequence, but this time it’s also a hilarious switch that puts the adults on the run from the authorities. . But clearly they just want to get their children home safe and sound, and what this was like for other extraterrestrials trying to get closer to the ETs on the other side of things. I wonder if that’s the case. Spielberg movie.
Will The Skeleton Crew end with a thrilling Spielbergian climax?
lucas film
If there’s anything we can learn from the example of the 1980s Spielberg movie Kids on Bikes, it’s that there’s always plenty of action and a climax that involves kids riding bikes. This episode of “Skeleton Crew” ends on a big cliffhanger after taking our young heroes back to Attyn, so it’s likely we’ll see the kids again on hoverbikes trying to save the day from Jodd. Of course. Na-Nawood and his traitorous ways in the season 1 finale.
Will they fly into the sky and become silhouettes of the moon? That might be a bit of an overkill, but I’m still sure hoverbikes can help with things. Similarly, I’m betting that Wim will get the lightsaber that Jodo escaped with. It makes a lot of sense for him to become a Jedi, which he’s dreamed of since the first episode. Also, hopefully the kids droid sidekick SM-33 will also be back. It’s great storytelling in Spielberg mode.
The Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Season 1 finale will be available on Disney+ on January 14, 2025 at 6pm PT.
