Good Lock, the enthusiast-favorite first-party launcher from Samsung, has been redesigned and expanded with One UI 7. In a post on the Samsung Community Forums, the feature manager detailed the changes to Good Lock that will be introduced with the release of One UI 7. Samsung is trying to release an upgraded Good Lock launcher alongside regular One UI updates, but some features may take longer to release.
Notably, Samsung is making Good Lock more widely available. The app, which was previously exclusive to the Galaxy Store, will be available for download from the Google Play Store starting with One UI 7. For the first time, the post reveals that Good Lock is “available for use in all countries.”
Good Lock is a popular choice for users of Samsung foldable devices. Specifically, the first-party launcher is the only official way to use apps on the cover screen of your Galaxy Z Flip smartphone. This year’s revised version of Good Lock includes some big changes that improve the UI of the launcher on regular Samsung phones, not just foldables.
“The overall structure of the main app has been changed with UI convenience in mind,” the post explains. Samsung lists improved search and filtering capabilities, easier widget management, and the addition of Good Lock functionality as some of the features debuting with One UI 7.

Great news for fans of Home Up. The post calls Home Up “one of the most changed apps” this year, starting with allowing users to use Home Up in One UI Home without running the Home Up app.
Additionally, users will be able to place icons anywhere on the home screen without following a strict grid. Other changes include gesture animation customization, folder customization, edge panel customization, and taskbar customization. This has been rumored for some time after the October 2024 leak.
Finally, the post reminds Good Lock fans that enthusiast-favorite features may become standard One UI features in the future.
“Use the Good Lock app to show changes big and small, and let us know what you think so we can continue to build on them,” the post explains. “Features that get a good response will be incorporated into One UI features, so please continue to provide feedback.”
The One UI 7 beta is already available on the Galaxy S24 series, but the revamped Good Lock app is at least a few weeks away.
