Conditions were good for the Women’s Individual with calm on the range and sunny, cool skies above.
Results
Lou Jeanmonnot is fast becoming the new Queen of the Individual looking to take over from Dorothea Wierer. After winning the short Individual in Kontiolathi with 20/20 she did the same here in Ruhpolding with another 20/20 meaning she hasn’t missed a single target in the Individual this season! Today she combined that with great skiing to take the win by 35 seconds and now holds a 55 points lead in the standings ensuring she keep the red bib in this event.
After a mediocre set of results in Oberhof, compared to her season so far, Franziska Preuss was back on form today. With just one miss on the range she skied really well, with the third fastest ski time, to take second place.
In third place was Amy Baserga! She shot 20/20 to take her career best result and first ever World Cup podium. She couldn’t hold off Preuss missing out on second place by just under 8 seconds but she won’t mind that. It was a fabulous performance by the young Swiss athlete who has been improving week by week.
Hits
Johanna Skottheim did a great race in 5th with 20/20. It has been a while since she had a good result at World Cup level having spent the last few seasons on the IBU Cup. It was good to see Anna Gandler back in the top 6 collecting some flowers after a tough season so far. She was sick a lot over the summer and hasn’t been able to hit the heights of last year yet but I’m sure she was inspired by her boyfriend Emilien Claude’s second place in the men’s race.
Susan Kuelm achieved her PB in 12th with 19/20, Stefanie Scherer improved her PB from 62nd to 23rd with 19 hits, Estere Volfa had a good race in 56th for a new PB even with 3 misses.
It was so nice to see Emma Lunder back in the top 15. She was 14th with a single miss and after a tough start to the season hopefully this will give her some much needed confidence going forward.
Misses
It was a bad day on the range for Joanna Jakiela. Normally a good shooter she missed 9 targets including all 5 on her final standing shoot.
Extra bullets
Jeanmonnot made up 15 points in the Overall on Preuss but the German still holds a substantial lead of 101 points.
Oceane Michelon with another fantastic 4th place finish now moves into the lead in the blue bib. She has a 6 point gap to teammate Jeanne Richard.
