Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand believes Casemiro will leave Manchester United.
The Brazilian enjoyed an impressive first season at Old Trafford, but his influence has significantly waned over the past two seasons.
Despite a brief resurgence under caretaker manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, Casemiro’s role diminished considerably under Ruben Amorim.
He has only played in two of United’s last eight games, starting only once, in the 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle United.
This has led to immense speculation that Casemiro could leave Old Trafford in January, with the Saudi Arabian side being the likely destination.
Rio Ferdinand believes the player is certain to move soon, although the latest reports seem to suggest that a move to the Middle East is not as far along as initially thought.
He gave his two cents on the current situation surrounding the former Real Madrid star on his YouTube channel ‘Rio Ferdinand Presents’.
“I don’t think Casemiro will be happy,” Rio said. “He was never on the bench at any point in his career.”
Ferdinand stressed that the 32-year-old is far down the pecking order and that even the inexperienced Toby Collier was minutes ahead of him at key moments, such as the FA Cup win at the weekend. .
“So if he’s on the bench now and an offer comes, he’ll listen to it and the club will see they’re looking to bring in Toby Collier now.”
The former United player insists his former club would definitely be happy to part ways if the right offer came along, and insisted it wouldn’t be difficult to make that happen.
There is no doubt that the Red Devils will be delighted with the big offer that Casemiro is expected to receive this month. Because cutting his transfer fee and huge salary from the payroll would have a phenomenal impact on the club’s PSR problem and ability to spend in this period.
