An evening of music is coming up in Paphos with two artists presenting a programme that was a hit with Nicosia audiences. Following a very successful presentation in the capital city, the Inspired by Tradition concert will travel to Markideio Theatre on January 18 to present works for clarinet and piano.
The recital features the musicians Giorgos Georgiou on clarinet and Rami Sarieddine on piano, performing works by Cypriot composers which are based on or inspired by Cypriot tradition, hence the name of the programme.
Expected to sound at Markideio Theatre are pieces by Solon Michaelides, Evagoras Karageorgis, Evis Sammoutis, Andreas Tsiartas, Angelos Angelides and Christina Athinodorou. Three of the compositions to be presented are Cyprus premieres and are expected to enchant audiences in an evening full of Cypriot flair.
The concert is organised by Technopolis 20, which will present one more Cypriot group this January. On Saturday 26, the venue will host Nābu Pēra, a trio that performs contemporary Cypriot music.
Dimitris Yasemidis, Savva Thomas and Natasa Hatziandreou will present their Soundscapes of Nicosia performance which explores everyday sounds, blending wind and percussion instruments with electronic sounds.
