Real Madrid and Manchester City were tipped to lure Sandro Tonali away from Newcastle United this summer.
Tonali has been at the heart of Newcastle’s success since returning from his gambling suspension, but his failure to hold out the Magpies’ regular place in the Champions League has long sparked speculation of a move away from St James’ Park. I’m here.
Juventus and AC Milan have been strongly linked with Tonali, with the Italy international claiming he wanted to return to Serie A after becoming unhappy with life at Newcastle.
Nevertheless, Tonali’s impressive form continues to attract interest from elsewhere, with Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio now tipping Madrid and City to try and do a deal in the summer .
“I don’t know if he will be able to return to Italy in June, but I think Tonali will leave Newcastle,” Di Marzio told Sky Sports Italia. “I think there is an important market for him at international level.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Real Madrid buy him, but it depends on whether Carlo (Ancelotti) stays or Xabi Alonso arrives. Also, City are looking and would be happy to return. – You can have an international outlet in the market.”
Tonali is contracted to Newcastle until 2028 and has repeatedly emphasized that he is part of the St James’s furniture. “.
Newcastle are also well in the race for a place in the top four of the Premier League this season. They currently sit in fifth place, just outside the ç spot by goal difference.
