Doha, January 23 (QNA) – Shafara Center for Persons with Disabilities opened the first Shafara Winter Festival at Doha Old Port, transforming the venue into a vibrant hub of celebration and empowerment. Held over three nights from 4pm to 10pm, the festival serves as a dynamic platform for entertainment, interaction and raising awareness about the centre’s important work.
Designed to engage the community, the festival highlights the center’s innovative services aimed at integrating and empowering people with disabilities. Participants will be able to experience a variety of interactive activities that are as educational as they are entertaining, and showcase the outstanding skills and creativity of the Center’s members.
From operating a booth to displaying unique products, this event highlights the potential and talent of individuals with disabilities and fosters greater understanding and appreciation within the community.
To promote community bonds, Shafala Winter Festival partnered with key institutions including the Ministry of Education. This collaboration aims to create a vibrant and inclusive environment where entertainment and empowerment meet.
Over the next three days, festival attendees can participate in a myriad of recreational, educational, and cultural activities for all ages. The ‘Shafala Shop’ stands out, offering unique handcrafted crafts and works of art by the Center’s talented members. Participants can also take part in interactive games and contests, and enjoy thrilling theatrical performances, all showcasing the center’s diverse offerings.
A special photo exhibit highlights the accomplishments and talents of the Center’s members, and a photo station allows the Center’s talented photographers to capture and print visitors’ moments on the spot.
The center noted the participation of several schools and the participation of social media influencers in presenting festival corners and contests on stage with artistic performances. A special interactive rest area for children with autism spectrum disorders has also been set up at the Old Doha Port festival site.
Aida Omar Al Shirawi, Media Spokesperson of Shafarah Center, said that the festival aims to raise awareness about the center’s services and its importance in supporting people with disabilities. Shafara Center also serves as a pioneering platform to economically empower members of the Center by displaying and selling products, empowering people with disabilities and increasing their presence in society.
