Shenzhou-19 crew completes second series of spacewalks
BEIJING, Jan. 21 (QNA) – The crew of Shenzhou 19 aboard the China Orbiting Space Station completed the mission’s second series of extravehicular activities (EVA) on Tuesday, according to the China Manned Space Administration.
Astronauts Cai Xuezhe, Song Lingdong, and Wang Haoze spent eight and a half hours performing multiple tasks, including installing space debris protection equipment and conducting external inspections. They were assisted by a robotic arm on the space station and a team on Earth.
The two crew members assigned to the spacewalk mission, Mr. Cai and Mr. Song, later returned safely to the Wentian Laboratory.
Since completing the first spacewalk on December 17, 2024, the crew has conducted a series of tests, including space station equipment inspection and maintenance, system-wide pressure emergency training, and preparation for the second series of spacewalks. I’ve been working on my mission.
They have completed nearly half of their space trip and will conduct a significant number of scientific experiments and technology tests in orbit, the agency said.
They will be celebrating the upcoming Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, in their busy schedules. (QNA)
