Doha, January 14 (QNA) – Desert Legacy solo exhibition by artist Ahmed Awad opened on Tuesday at Souq Waqif Art Center. The event was attended by several ambassadors and diplomats accredited to the State of Qatar, along with artists, intellectuals and media professionals.
Ahmed Awad pays homage to the beauty and enduring legacy of the Arabian horse as a symbol of Arab tradition and culture through 22 works of art that adorn the two halls of the centre.
Through his oil paintings, Awad demonstrates his mastery of capturing the beauty of Arabian horses, evoking the work of famous artists such as Jérôme, Diderot, Kozak, Faik Hassan, and Ali Al Mar. His sophisticated works also show imaginary scenes of horsemen parading through Qatar’s desert heritage, blurring the lines between reality and art.
In comments to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Souq Waqif Art Center Manager Rouda Al Mansoori said that the exhibition is part of the center’s unwavering support for its pioneers and staff. He confirmed that Awad had chosen to exhibit this masterpiece at the centre. Early artistic production flourished.
Mr. Al Mansouri said that as long as the center is given the responsibility to take care of its staff, organize art events for them, and provide similar opportunities to all artists, the center will be able to host exhibitions of such an extraordinary level. He emphasized that he was proud to host the event.
Artist Ahmed Awad told QNA that he decided to pay tribute to the beauty of the Arabian horse, as it forms a deep part of the ancient Bedouin heritage left to him by his ancestors. Through an oil painting, two pencil drawings, and twelve sketches, the aim is to introduce how the idea of a painting begins, its composition, light distribution, and how it develops into a finished work. I’m here.
The exhibit will be open to the public at the center until February 14, 2025. (QNA)
