Bangkok, January 12 (QNA) – The Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding will hold a series of conferences and conferences in Thailand as part of a tour by the award’s media team to examine the current state of translation between Thai and Arabic. In collaboration with Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Krk University International Islamic College Bangkok hosted a conference on the Sheikh Hamad Prize for Translation and International Understanding.
The conference covered several topics and provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences regarding translation and its role in promoting cultural exchange between Arabic and other languages. Meanwhile, the Vice President for International Affairs of Krk University and the Dean of the Bangkok International Islamic University were present. Professor Jalan Marreem emphasized the importance of language as a powerful tool to unite people under the umbrella of free thought, peace and tolerance.
At the end of the conference, Thailand’s first translated book exhibition was held, attended by more than 20 scholars and translators from southern Thailand, and exhibited more than 200 works translated from Arabic to Thai by Thai translators. It was done.
During the tour, Dr. Hanan Al Fayyad, Media Advisor for the Prize, highlighted the Prize’s unique vision of supporting linguistic diversity, rather than one language dominating another.
Al Fayyad added that the inclusion of Thai as one of the languages of the 11th award aims to strengthen cultural dialogue and promote understanding between people.
Dr. Emtinan Al Samadi, a member of the award’s media team, pointed out the important role of translation in bridging civilizations and transmitting knowledge.
Nominations for the 11th Sheikh Hamad Prize for Translation and International Understanding will open on January 1st and run until March 3rd.
This year’s award consists of two tracks. The first track is the main language of the award (Arabic to German, German to Arabic, Arabic to Turkish, Turkish to Arabic, Arabic to English, and English to Arabic).
