Doha, January 09 (QNA) – Organized by the Department of Research and Islamic Studies of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf), scholars from Qatar University’s Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies (QU) discussed the theme ‘Society’ . Reform” was held during the second session of the Ummashinposium.
The third Cultural Season Ummah Symposium aimed to revive the concept of Kifayah obligation and explore ways to address social challenges and improve community development through collective responsibility and engagement.
On this occasion, Dr. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Ghanim Al-Thani, Director General of Research and Islamic Studies, emphasized that social reform is crucial for nation-building, unity and intellectual progress. He said speakers will discuss key elements of this reform and how to activate it in society.
In the first session of the symposium, Dr. Abdul Salam Mukhbir Al Majidi, Professor of Quranic Studies at QU, discussed the theme of collective obligations, stating that collective obligations are required of all responsible individuals and He explained that if members of the department fulfill their obligations, others will be exempted. . He emphasized that collective obligations are the basis of social and national development, ensuring public interest, economic growth and national security, as well as the importance of human dignity and development.
Dr Turki Obaid Al Marri, Professor of Law at QU, spoke about the challenges faced by social work institutions that support marginalized groups and play a key role in achieving sustainable development. He proposed reforms by strengthening administrative efficiency, governance, transparency, and community awareness of the importance of these institutions.
Meanwhile, Associate Professor of Law Dr. Yusuf Ahmed Asir provided a forward-looking perspective on how collective obligations can be invoked to achieve regional development goals and protect the public interest. (QNA)
