Doha, January 08 (QNA) – UNESCO Regional Office for the Gulf States and Yemen held a cultural event on the Arabic language at the United Nations House in Doha on Wednesday.
The event, with the theme of strengthening communication between the Arab region and the world through Arabic, especially with Latin American countries, was organized in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Qatar National Council for Education, Culture and Science, and Green Zone Foundation (GZF). In his opening remarks, His Excellency Salah El-Din Zaki Khaled, Representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the Gulf States and Yemen and Director of UNESCO’s Regional Office in Doha, said that the 51st anniversary of the day would be commemorated. The anniversary of the establishment of Arabic as one of the official languages of the United Nations is based on the fact that Arabic is the official language of approximately 25 countries and is one of the most important pillars of human cultural diversity.
