Mike and Jay begin with a discussion of President-elect Trump’s previous nominations. Mike is pretty much what you would expect from Donald Trump, given his belief that establishment insider nominations were a major hurdle for the administration during the president’s first term, so overall I’m not surprised by the nomination. Jay believes new AG candidate Pam Bondi will do a better job than Gates. Both have had issues with DNI nominee Tulsi Gabbard, but Jay says opposing her nomination is one thing and claiming she represents Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is quite another. It is claimed that this is the case.
From there, they turn to the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. They are considering the department’s plan, outlined by Musk and Ramaswamy in a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, and while it won’t save much money, it will reduce office requirements and significantly reduce staffing. I look forward to working on the transfer. The exodus of government jobs from Washington, D.C., could lead to attrition of the federal workforce.
This is Mike’s May 2023 interview with Tulsi Gabbard.
