There’s a reason sketch shows have all but vanished from mainstream television and it has absolutely nothing to do with changing tastes or shifts in viewing habits.
It’s all about the money. Sketch shows are expensive to make. Individual sketches require considerable outlay: costumes, wigs, make-up, props, sets that continually need to be redressed – all for an item that could last no more than a couple of minutes.
