Nintendo Co. said Thursday it will release the successor to its Switch game console, which has become one of its best-selling consoles, sometime this year.

The image and video preview revealed that the new device features two detachable controllers and a screen, with a larger overall size than the current model.
Gamers can play titles exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, as well as games available for both the physical and digital versions of the current Nintendo Switch. The Switch functions as both a portable device and stationary hardware that can connect to a TV.
Nintendo will host events in April to give consumers a hands-on experience with the new model.
Since its launch in 2017, Switch has become popular among gamers worldwide.
