“Amorphous” – lacking a clearly defined form or meaning – was how Scarlett Pavlovich attempted to crystallise the events of that night when she was 22 years old and the celebrated author Neil Gaiman, she says, forced himself upon her at the home in New Zealand he shared with his wife, the musician and performance artist Amanda Palmer.
Pavlovich and Palmer had become friends. Pavlovich became a kind of unpaid personal assistant to Palmer and babysat the five-year-old son she shared with Gaiman.
