NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and Science Mission Directorate Deputy Administrator Nikki Foxx will host a media conference call on Tuesday, January 7th at 1:00 pm ET to provide an update on the status of NASA’s Mars Sample Return Program.
The briefing will include NASA’s efforts to achieve the goal of returning scientifically selected samples from Mars to Earth while reducing cost, risk, and mission complexity.

The agency’s Mars Sample Return Program has been a major long-term goal of international planetary exploration for more than two decades. NASA’s Perseverance rover is collecting compelling scientific samples that will help scientists understand Mars’ geological history and climate evolution, and prepare for future human explorers. . Returning the samples will also help NASA search for signs of ancient life.
