He exemplified the best of humanity. , his life and accomplishments serve as a model for the United States and the world.
“NASA’s Voyager 1, the furthest man-made object from Earth, carries a message of President Carter’s essential goodness and grace.
“If one such civilization can intercept Voyager and understand these recordings, this is our message. This is a gift from a small world far away, our sounds, Our science, our images, our music, our thoughts, and our emotions. We are trying to survive in our time so that we can continue to live in your time. We hope that someday we can solve the problems we face and join the community of galactic civilizations. This record represents our hope, determination, and goodwill in a vast and wonderful universe. ”
“President Carter understood the important truth that when we look to the stars, we find common ground. His words will forever belong in heaven, and his legacy will forever honor our nation and our planet. Our NASA family and I keep the Carter family in our thoughts and prayers.”
