In a new December vlog posted to her YouTube channel, former Love Islander Molly-Mae Hague got teary as she spoke about spending her first sad Christmas – without her ex-fiancé, Tommy Fury.
She previously revealed in an interview that she “wanted to get married” to Tommy, and that the date was set for September 2025.
But it wasn’t meant to be. The pair parted ways on August 14 this year. They now co-parent their daughter Bambi, and split her time between them this Christmas.
Tommy proposed on a clifftop in Ibiza in July 2023. Their split? It was a “bit of a shock,” Molly-Mae has since admitted.
Molly-Mae Hague on first sad Christmas ‘ever’
In her latest December vlog, reality TV personality Molly-Mae Hague became emotional while talking about how 2024 was the first time she’d been sad on Christmas.
“It’s been an emotional rollercoaster,” she said. “As I knew it would be. And that’s fine.
“It can be a really, really sad time of the year and I feel like I’ve been so blessed in my life, I’ve never really felt that way at Christmas, it’s always been a really positive time for me.
“But I feel like this is the first Christmas ever where I can really understand what people talk about when they talk about how it really makes you feel.”
It’s the first Christmas since she and Tommy Fury separated this summer. They were together for five years.
But it was a merry Christmas in the end
“But do you know what, I’ve had better up moments than I’ve had down. I would really put that down to my amazing family and my amazing sister, who doesn’t ever really get a shoutout enough from me.
“Without being soppy – because we don’t do soppy, Zoe and I, we’re not those kinds of sisters – but I genuinely have the best sister on the planet.
“There is nothing that she wouldn’t do for me and Bambi and she’s really pulled through this Christmas.”
Zoe is 28 (to Molly-Mae’s 25) and previously served in the British Army Medical Corps.
“She’s always my support system, and Zoe and Danny had so much to do tonight and I was like ‘I don’t really wanna be here alone tonight so can you just stay and get a Chinese with me’ and they were like ‘Yep’, cancelled everything they were doing tonight.
“I have the best family and support system in the world and it’s times like this when you just really realise that I’m just so lucky. I have the most amazing people around me and this Christmas reminded me.”
So it was a merry Christmas after all!
Love Island star addresses Tommy Fury split
Molly-Mae told British Vogue for its December 2024 issue that it “was a bit of a shock,” the way her relationship with Tommy ended.
I didn’t want what happened to happen.
In the interview, she mentioned “circumstances” without going into them.
“I didn’t want what happened to happen,” she said. Vogue’s Sirin Kale added that she was “putting on a brave face” during their conversation, but was “clearly so sad”.
“I wanted to get married next September,” the Love Island star elucidated. “And it’s very hard when it’s kind of taken away. But I will always have a lot of love and respect for him.”
She’d do a better job of managing the whole situation now, after what she’s been through and learned about herself, she said.
Molly added: “Was I planning a big wedding because I wanted that image of a big wedding and the beautiful photographs and that moment that everyone would have expected from us on social media? Probably.
“Would I be more confident now, after everything that’s happened and learning even more about myself, to say, actually, that doesn’t even make me happy, screw the big Instagram moment. I’m going to do it this way? Definitely.”
Meanwhile, she and Tommy want to keep what happened during the breakdown of their relationship between them – “for Bambi’s sake”.
She said she thinks Tommy will “talk about things eventually” and when he’s “ready”.
Molly-Mae added that it’s “not like it’s gossip, it’s real life and it’s, you know, it’s a really deep situation”.
