There are many iconic scenes in Mike Myers’ movies, especially Wayne’s World, but there is one scene that stands out.
The Saturday Night Live alum, 60, joined Wayne Campbell and Dana Carvey, 69, for the scene in which Garth Algar locks in a car to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” He opened up about his own life and coming out of the “punk rock era.”
The scene could have turned out very differently if the screenwriters and studio’s vision had been used instead of Myers’ desire to use a Queen song.
Bonnie and Terry Turner wrote the script and wanted to use Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” for that scene.
Meanwhile, the studio had a completely different idea: they wanted to use a song from Guns N’ Roses, a new band that was all the rage at the time.
Myers told Vulture that Bohemian Rhapsody was ultimately shortlisted for its “strange operatic qualities” and was awarded the Master of Arts Award.

Wayne, Garth and friends enjoy Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody in an iconic scene from the 1992 film
“Everyone was assigned a Galileo. It was a big deal. If you took away my Galileo, there would be a fight.”
In this scene, Wayne, Garth, and their friends sit in the back seat of a car driving through the streets of Aurora, Illinois, and begin headbanging to the guitar riff at the end of the song.
Wayne’s World started as an SNL sketch and became a hit movie in 1992.
The film’s synopsis provided by IMDb says, “Wayne still lives at home.” He has a world-class collection of name tags from jobs he’s ever attempted, but he also has his own public television show.
“The local station decided to hire him and his buddy Garth to run the show professionally, but Wayne and Garth realized it was no longer the same.
“Wayne falls in love with the bassist and uses his and Garth’s video connection to help his career. Ben Oliver, the sleazy ad man who’s ruining their show, takes her away if he messes up.” I knew I would take it away from him.”
The film also starred Rob Lowe, Tia Carrere, Lara Flynn-Boyle, and the late Chris Farley and Meatloaf.
Meyers played Austin in 1997’s Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, 1999’s Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, and 2002’s Austin Powers: Goldmember. He is also known for his role.
