Let’s do it!
Best Hairstyle: Cat Flood, Pitt
On game day, she styled her hair in different ways and it always looked great.
Most Electric Player: Laney Choboy, Nebraska
This was a difficult choice as there are many electric players, but I have no choice but to give it to Laney Choboy. Her great play and reactions make me excited.
Setting the Standard: Women’s College Volleyball Total Attendance Records
Top Leader: Anna DeVere, Louisville
This was an easy choice for me after seeing how Anna De Beer led the team even though she was sidelined with an injury. She took control in every huddle and timeout and found ways to lead her teammates off the court as well.
Most Dangerous Attacker: Olivia Babcock, Pitt
Another easy choice for me is AVCA Player of the Year, Olivia Babcock. She was unreal.
With that said, kudos to Penn State’s Jess Murzik, especially for his great performance in the championship. Her shots were absolutely stunning.
Team of the Year: SMU
This award isn’t just for the champions, it’s for SMU. They started the season without a ranking and didn’t catch the attention of most, but defied expectations and defeated the top two teams in the country, finishing the regular season as a top-10 program.
Most impactful transfer: Caroline Jurevicius, Penn State
There is no greater impact than joining a program and leading it to the national championship game.
Best Celebration: Louisville Charity Looper
She has that fire in her eyes and competes like no one else on the court and is truly a thrill to watch.
Top News of the Year: Katie Schumacher-Cawley, Penn State University
Katie Schumacher-Cawley made history as the first female head coach to win a national title while bravely battling breast cancer. It’s really moving.
2024 National Champions: Penn State defeats Louisville to win eighth NCAA volleyball title in program history
Best sliding attack: Andy Jackson (Nebraska)
One of the top offensive middle players all season.
Program Changer Award: Melanie Parra, TCU
She made an incredible impact at TCU, becoming the program’s first AVCA First Team All-American. This season, TCU finished in the top 25 for the first time in its history.
Biggest inspiration: Lexi Rodriguez, Nebraska
I could go on and on about her influence on the sport and the libero position. An AVCA Player of the Year finalist, she is a role model for the next generation.
Best Team Handshake Award: Penn State University
This award definitely belongs to Penn State. Their team has a real routine and I love it.
Biggest upset of the tournament: Loyola Chicago
They first upset Dayton for the conference title to earn a spot in the tournament, followed by an impressive upset of BYU in the first round.
Most Relentless: Elena Scott, Louisville
One of the best defenders in the game, she is absolutely relentless.
Match Takeover: Kennedy Martin, Florida
Congratulations to Kennedy Martin for his numerous 30+ kill matches. Over 30 kills per match has become commonplace for her. This is truly unthinkable.
Jumping off the gym: Lexi Almodovar, Dayton
He’s a small outside hitter, but that didn’t matter one bit. She made history by leading her team in this year’s tournament.
Most underrated player: Kendra Waite, Creighton
One of the best setters in the country, she led her team to the regional finals. She is an unreal athlete who deserves tremendous credit for everything she has accomplished.
