Merseyside Police launch an appeal after a 54 year old Liverpool supporter gets attacked by a 21 year old Man City fan.
Michael Muldoon was reportedly assaulted after the two sides’ fixture in December, Muldoon punched in the face by a Man City supporter, causing him to fall and hit his head on a curb, which led to him being unconscious for nearly five minutes.
He required medical attention for a head injury that necessitated stitches. A CT scan confirmed no brain bleeding, but he needed frequent hospital visits for treatment, impacting his work and daily life.
Merseyside Police arrested a 21-year-old man from Halifax, West Yorkshire, on suspicion of assault, and they are still appealing for witnesses or anyone with CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the vicinity of Arkles Lane and Priory Road to come forward.
This is the Man City fan who punched some old fella who looked in his late 50’s from behind and left him bleeding on the floor after he ran on to his coach to hide just incase you want to issue a lifetime ban 👍 @spiritofshankly @LFC @ManCity @ManCityHelp @LFCHelp pic.twitter.com/ByaauN7nKp

Everybody meet Mick who was sadly attacked from behind when Liverpool played Man City at Anfield by an away fan in…

A Facebook post went out, with members of the Muldoon family saying: “My dad was violently attacked by a 27 year old MAN CITY FAN on the 1st December after the Liverpool/City match at Anfield about 6pm.
“A few people did see this happen and have been in contact with the police but we need more evidence. The “MAN” that did this to my Dad is about to enjoy his Christmas at home with his family with absolutely no remorse for what he’s put my dad and my family through the last three weeks – feelings I can only describe as HELL
“The police are putting out a press release this week to urge people to come forwards and help – this man could’ve killed my Dad.. he is so lucky to be alive as we were told by the doctors – so many people were there and know what happened, people are scared to come forwards which we understand but this man could’ve taken away my dad and left my little boy without a grandad – this man will now be banned from all clubs from the TOP 6 LEAGUES in football.
“He got OFF the away coach as my dad was walking ALONE back to the taxi with the intention of attacking my dad FROM BEHIND and then got back on to hide away to avoid being caught – the attack was malicious, unprovoked and evil.
“Please take 30 seconds to look at the pictures of my dad over the last 3 weeks – and I beg anyone and everyone just to click share for me, if I could wish for anything this Christmas – it’s for this “man” to be prosecuted.”
This is my dad, never a dull moment 😂😂😂

As quoted by Metro, she said: “Dad was walking to meet his brother and friends and the attacker had got off the away coach and pulled my dad’s scarf from behind. He turned around and they hit him in the face and pushed him and he fell back and hit his head on the kerb.
“He was unconscious for four or five minutes. He is a season ticket holder and a big Liverpool fan. He attends all the games, both home and away.
“He was in Istanbul in 2005 and he’s been to all the Champions League games. My mum and I drove from St Annes to Liverpool after we found out what had happened and it was the longest hour and 20 minutes of my life.
“Anything could happen and you hear it on the news of people dying from one punch. They told him it could have been so much worse and I think that really hit home. He went to hospital every other day for four weeks to get the dressing changed and then for stitching.”
Fortunately, a CT scan confirmed that Muldoon escaped any bleeding on the brain. But the effects of his injury have still been felt, with his frequent hospital visits preventing him from working and watching his beloved Liverpool in action.
