Manchester United have made contact with manager Ruben Amorim over a deal to sign the midfielder for more than £40 million, according to recent reports.
Manchester United transfer news
Amorim made it clear in a recent press conference that Man United are keen to make a deal in the January transfer window, and he, along with the leadership team, is keeping an eye on the possibility of a deal. I’m trying to make it shine. But what they can do this month is likely to depend on which players leave the club in the coming weeks.
Forward Joshua Zirkzee could be the player the Red Devils go to in order to bring in an upgrade. According to recent reports, Zirksee is in talks to leave United and join Italian giants Juventus. The Serie A side are reportedly in talks with the player’s agent, but it appears they would prefer a loan move rather than a permanent departure, which United are aiming to sign.

He has struggled under Ruben Amorim.
One player who could replace the Dutchman at Old Trafford is Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic. The Red Devils are likely to want to sign a new striker if Zirkzee leaves, with the Premier League side eyeing the Serbian and a swap deal not ruled out. Juventus manager Thiago Motta worked with Zirksee at Bologna and remains a big fan of the striker and could allow Blachowicz, who is yet to sign a new contract, to leave in order to be reunited with the Dutch international. There is sex.
Manchester United approached for ‘special’ midfielder for more than £40m
As contract negotiations continue for a new striker, TEAMtalk reports that Manchester United and INEOS have made contact to sign midfielder Davide Frattesi from Inter Milan.
The 25-year-old, described as “special” by journalist Wayne Girard, joined Inter on a permanent basis in the summer. Frattesi joined the Serie A champions on loan from Sassuolo for the 2023-24 season before signing on a permanent basis during the summer transfer window.
Frattesi’s contract runs until the summer of 2028, but Man United are said to be exploring the possibility of bringing him to England in 2025. TEAMtalk report that the Red Devils have inquired about the possibility of signing the midfielder, but they face stiff competition from Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. So is Rome.
Frattesi has started just eight of the 21 games he has played for Inter this season, but despite not being a regular in the team, Inter are unlikely to sell him or any other player until at least this summer’s Club World Cup. He says he has no intention of doing so. If United were to sign Frattesi, they would have to pay around £41.5 million, as Inter value him highly. With Christian Eriksen expected to leave the club at the end of his contract at the latest, Amorim could be in the market for a new midfielder. Casemiro has also been ruled out again, while Mason Mount’s injury problems continue.
