Manchester United winger Anthony is unlikely to decide on a loan move to Greek side Olympiakos in January.
Anthony has struggled to live up to his lofty price tag since joining United from Ajax as Erik ten Hag’s marquee signing in the summer of 2022.
The Brazilian has scored just five goals in the Premier League during his time at Old Trafford so far. He fell out of favor under Ten Hag and has not been able to fit into Ruben Amorim’s plans since taking over as head coach.
INEOS is thought to be hoping to cut its losses and free up Antony’s funds as soon as this month.
A recent report by People’s Person claimed that Olympiakos are interested in signing the struggling 24-year-old on a temporary basis.
However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, it is highly unlikely that Anthony will join the current European Conference League champions before the deadline.
“Anthony’s move to Olympiakos is not considered a concrete/likely option at this stage of the market,” Romano wrote in X. Please understand that after the initial approach a few days ago, negotiations have not progressed on both the player’s and club’s sides. ”

Romano also said on his YouTube channel: “My understanding is that the deal is not progressing, the deal is not concrete, and it is unlikely that the deal will actually happen in January.”
“We therefore ask not only Olympiakos, but also many other clubs, including Spanish and Italian clubs, to understand the terms of Anthony’s contract.”
“But Manchester United, first of all, is not going to pay the player’s full salary. That obviously doesn’t make sense for Manchester United and from the player’s side, Olympiakos can’t be considered a priority right now. My understanding is that it hasn’t.”
“There’s nothing really concrete or imminent for Anthony and Olympiakos.”
This information was echoed by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who explained that while the agreement was “not a complete deal”, it was “very, very complicated” to cross the line.
