In the world of politics, appearances can be just as crucial as policies, and Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has made headlines not only for her political stances but also for her distinctive fashion choices. Over the past few years, Boebert has frequently donned what she calls “country chic” attire, aiming to connect with her constituents. However, some of her fashion attempts have raised eyebrows and sparked conversations, particularly her most recent ensemble during the Republican primary victory celebration in June 2024.
After securing her spot to represent her district, Boebert delivered a spirited speech at the RainDance National Golf Course in Windsor, Colorado. “2024 is when we take Colorado back and when we take our nation back,” she declared to a cheering crowd, embodying the spirit of a candidate ready to fight for her beliefs. For this important occasion, she chose a sleek black dress that fit her figure well. However, it was her choice of footwear that truly made a statement.
Boebert paired her little black dress with high-heeled leather cowboy boots adorned with an American flag design. The brown leather boots featured striking red and white stripes at the top, complemented by a large white star, while the foot of the boot showcased a blue panel patterned with white stars. The ensemble was a bold nod to her patriotic persona, further accentuated by her signature glasses and loose, curled hair. Interestingly, Boebert opted to forgo the traditional cowboy hat, perhaps to keep the focus on her striking footwear.

However, the night didn’t end there. Later, she made a dramatic wardrobe change, swapping her flag-themed boots for a pair of gold sneakers bearing the name of former President Donald Trump, paired with a white MAGA hat. This change raised eyebrows, especially since Boebert openly admitted that the sneakers were knockoffs. “These are very [made in] China, but I’m okay with that,” she told Westword, showcasing her lighthearted approach to her fashion choices. While she claimed to be on friendly terms with Trump, it seemed he hadn’t sent her a new pair of shoes for the occasion. “He congratulated me; he loves me,” she added, revealing her enthusiasm for the former president’s support.
Boebert’s attempts to connect with voters through her fashion choices have not always gone smoothly. Following her primary win, she donned her American flag cowboy boots once again during a meeting with constituents in July. This time, she paired the boots with a white, doily-style dress featuring full-length sleeves, topped off with a cowboy hat to further enhance her country appeal. Just weeks later, she was spotted in another public appearance wearing the same boots with an acid-wash brown dress adorned with tassels. In a spirited display of patriotism, she posed for a photo holding an American flag while standing next to a supporter.
Boebert’s foray into Western wear isn’t new. In September 2023, she attempted a more casual look during the Summer Mountain Man Rendezvous in Fort Garland, Colorado. Wearing a simple black T-shirt and blue jeans, she added a black cowboy hat decorated with red, white, and blue fabric strips, complete with a mini U.S. flag attached to the band. This casual approach was another attempt to connect with her rural constituents.
In May of the following year, Boebert was seen sporting a rancher hat again at the Elbert County Meat-in event. This time, she opted for a tight-fitting T-shirt and a zip-up sweater paired with skintight blue jeans, leaving her cowboy boots behind in favor of high heels. “Nobody out here transitioning to ‘lab-based’ meat, only the real stuff for Coloradans!” she tweeted, hoping to resonate with her base and emphasize her commitment to traditional values.
While Boebert’s fashion choices have certainly made her a recognizable figure, they have also sparked discussions about authenticity and the effectiveness of using style as a political tool. Whether her outfits succeed in winning over voters or simply provide fodder for social media commentary, one thing is clear: Lauren Boebert knows how to make a statement—both in politics and in fashion.
