Kieran Culkin has revealed that he didn’t know that his brother Macaulay Culkin had played the lead role in the 1990 film Home Alone until the movie premiered.
Kieran, now 42, had no idea his brother would be starring as Kevin McAllister, despite having a bit part as Kevin’s cousin Fuller in the family comedy.
While promoting his latest project, A Real Pain, the Succession star told the LA Times, “Devin Rattray, who plays Buzz, lied to me and said this movie was about me.” “It was,” he said.
He recalled: “When I saw it, I had no idea what the movie was about, but I was in it.” I was at the premiere and laughed to death. It was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. I had no idea what the movie was about. ”
Looking back, Kieran said: “And when I saw the movie, I was pissed about it and thought, ‘Mac was always on set, so it makes sense that this movie would be about him.’

The younger Culkin said he was told to “drink this Coke, put on your glasses, say what you learned, and go home looking pretty.”
The feature film was shot from February to May 1990, with its premiere just before its release on November 16th.
Keenan also told James Corden in 2020 about joining the set of Home Alone, saying, “I was having fun doing it, but I didn’t really know what it was.”
The now Emmy Award-winning star was six years old at the time of filming, while Macaulay, now 44, was nine.
He recently revealed why he doesn’t let his young children (daughter Kinsey, 5, and son Wilder, 3) watch Home Alone.
“There are still some scary parts,” Kieran explained to E! News from Gotham’s 34th Annual Film Awards earlier this week.
“The three-year-old has a tarantula, and at the end there’s a guy who says, ‘I’m going to bite off all your fingers.’ That’s scary for a three-year-old,” the protective father pointed out.
He added of himself and wife Jazz Churton, “I think we might be ready for Home Alone this year.” If not, next year. ”

Kieran reached a new level when he starred in the hit HBO drama “Succession” from 2018 to 2023.
The show starred Brian Cox as Logan Roy, the patriarch of a wealthy media dynasty.
The Logan children were played by Kieran, Jeremy Strong, Sarah Snook, and Adam Ruck, and the rest of the cast also included Matthew Macfadyen, Nicholas Braun, and Palestinian actress and director Hiam Abbas.
The show won 19 Emmy Awards during its run.
Meanwhile, Macaulay has returned to acting, taking on small film roles, including a recent role in the megachurch satire “The Righteous Gemstones.”
He has also appeared in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story: Double Feature and the comic The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy.
