Southern Rocks – 325 all out in 100 overs (Matthew Campbell 122, Roy Kaia 44, William Mashinge 36; Alex Russell 5/90, Wallace Mubayiwa 3/73, Faraz Akram 1/43)
Eagles – 259-3 in 60.1 overs (Craig Ervine 78*, Tinashe Kamunhukamwe 72, Kudzai Maunze 36; Ryan Higgins 1/45, Cuthbert Musoko 1/60, Keith Jaure 1/63)
Day 3 – Stumps: Eagles trail by 66 runs
Tinashe Kamunhukamwe and Craig Ervine led the charge with impressive seventies, anchoring a solid batting display by the Eagles top order, and when rain halted play they looked well on course to outpace Southern Rocks on the first innings of their Logan Cup clash at Harare Sports Club on Sunday.
Rocks, 322 for nine wickets overnight, added only another three runs in the morning before Richmond Mutumbami was caught off Alex Russell for an unusually passive 12 runs off 66 balls.
This gave Russell a five-wicket haul, at a cost of 90 runs, while his slow left-arm spin partner Wallace Mubayiwa took three for 73.
Eagles were soon scoring freely.
Kamunhukamwe was in fine form from the start, scoring 72 runs off 89 balls, with a six and 12 fours, before he was the first man out in an opening partnership of 116.
Without addition, his partner Kudzai Maunze was caught at the wicket off Keith Jaure for 36.
Rocks were unable to build on this breakthrough, as Ervine joined Dion Myers and was soon scoring with ease.
Myers took 53 balls to make 25 before he was caught off Cuthbert Musoko with the score at 194 for three.
Wessly Madhevere came in and batted well with Ervine until the afternoon rain arrived and drove the players from the field.
Play was later called off for the day with the score 259 for three, with Ervine was on 78 and Madhevere 29, only 66 runs behind Rocks with seven wickets in hand.

Day 3 – Stumps
After two blank days due to rain, play finally started in this Logan Cup match between Tuskers and Rhinos at Bulawayo Athletic Club on Sunday.
Rhinos won the toss and put Tuskers in to bat.
Nkosana Mpofu and Tanunurwa Makoni opened the batting for Tuskers as usual and progressed cautiously until the ninth over.
Mike Chinouya bowled a good opening spell of five overs for six runs.
In the 10th over, Makoni turned a ball from the English paceman Henry Brookes towards long leg, but as the fielder ran to cut it off he slipped on a wet patch in the outfield and fell.
He was unable to rise and medical attention had to be called.
The umpires therefore decided that the wet area made the conditions too dangerous for play to continue safely, and called off play for the day.
The Tuskers score at the stoppage was 17 for no wicket – Mpofu had five and Makoni 11.
If play is possible on the fourth and final day, it is unlikely an outright result can be achieved, leaving the teams to only play for bonus points.
