Kamala Harris has made no public announcements about what her political future holds, but she has already started an organization to help advance it.
The former vice president formed an LLC called Pioneer 49 in his home state of California last month, according to the president’s campaign’s final financial disclosure filed last week and confirmed by a person familiar with the organization’s plans.
The disclosure form describes the organization as “an organization supporting the former vice president,” which is likely to help facilitate Harris’ next political move.
“Pioneer” is Harris’ code name used by the Secret Service, and her LLC has adopted the same naming convention that former President Barack Obama used when he founded his organization Renegade 44 upon leaving office. (Mr. Harris is the 49th vice president.)
Politico reported in November that Harris has not given any consideration to her political future, but has told her advisers and allies to keep their options open. Harris essentially has three options. He can run for governor of California in 2026, run for president again in 2028, or decline to run and sit on the sidelines leading his party.
Harris, who flew to California after President Donald Trump took office, is expected to spend the coming months consulting with aides, allies and family members to decide on her next steps.
